Egyptian Navy has modernized 4 Chinese built Romeo Class subs dunring the period 1993 to 1996, Modernization procedure was done at Alexandria Naval Shipyard, with cooperation of many US defense contractors and supplyers to equip the subs with:- Sonar CSU-83
- Sea Harpoon UGM-84
- Torpedo MK-37
